Loose tuning nut at changer - MSA Classic

Post by Ian McKeown »

Lately my 10th string full tone raise change has been going flat, slowly but consistently after I would raise it with the tuning key.

I notice now that the plastic nut is loose when no pedals are engaged, while the rest of the nuts are finger tight. If I tighten the nut the change will obviously be too sharp, and tuning it to pitch means the nut is loose again and slowly slips more flat as I keep using the pedal?

I'm not mechanically inclined, so any pointers would be helpful.

Thanks!

You have a friend there in Alberta, Wayne Brown, who can supply you with a few extra nylon tuning nuts. They do wear out over time.

While you're waiting for a replacement, take the nut off and squash it with a pliers, in the center so as not to damage the end for your tuning wrench. That will tighten it up for a little while.
