At-Home PSG Covers — Preference?

Post by Bruce Coffman »

I’m looking for a good-quality dust cover for my SD-10 “bedroom” guitar. I’ve visited the websites for Tuki Covers, Sharp Covers Nashville and SFBAGWRX. Given that we have multiple cats (who seem to just LOVE climbing on my equipment) a padded cover isn’t out of the question. Whatever I get will also have to pass The Wife Test, so appearance/colors are a plus.

Any feedback (or alternatives) welcome!

Cheers,
Bruce

If your wife is handy with a sewing machine, you could ask her to get some upholstery fabric of her choice and do the rest – that would lead to instant approval. Joking apart, I asked my dear departed mom to do precisely that some 20 years ago, with a $5 piece of fabric. She said it was a quick and easy job, and it is still in good shape. You can make a template from paper to get the size just right.

I just had Tuki make one for my new MSA and couldn’t be happier. Fast shipment. I am well pleased.

Pretty sure that would lead to instant celibacy… keep those tips coming!

+1 for Tuki Covers. Got one for my MSA with 1/2" padding. Great fit and protection, reasonable price, fast shipping.

I took measurements to a local upholstery guy and picked out marine vinyl to make my covers. My wife made the 1st one years ago and it was perfect and beautiful. Since her passing I had to find another maker. Leigh Polari makes nice covers and she did one for me too.

With cats climbing on your guitar, You may need a hard cover with a plywood top, and wood sides to protect end plates and aprons, With padding and crushed velvet inside to protect guitar.
Nyga-Hyde and upholstery cloth does not stand up under cat claws.

I wish cats on top were my issue. I've got a 85lbs dog that likes to headbutt the knee levers out of his way when he wants more attention. I had to swap out the 3x4 for an 8 pedal rig just to have the pedal rods act as a cage to keep him out

I'd second the suggestion of a local upholsterer.
2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

Now, that is hilarious.

I used to just use a towel (even on stage) before they had covers and I could afford one. To keep it on, you could use tie down straps.

Bruce,

At covers and leg bags, amp covers, etc., Leigh Pollari is quite simply the best.

This is a cover I built for a MSA I gigged, I made this cover so a 25lb case could stay home. Just set tight in back of PT Cruiser. It has several layers of quilt filler for cushioning, And Marine grade vinyl, Cats claws would catch in the vinyl and damage it.
