Hum with "tremolo" effect when using pedals

Post by Emil Wester »

Hello!

When i use effect pedals with my pedal steel, i get some serious hum, with a tremolo like effect on it, even when i only have my compressor on my board. This dissapears if i power my pedal with a battery instead. What could be the cause?

All help appreciated!

Hi Emil, if it's quiet with a battery, but noisy with a power supply, the problem is the power supply. Some supplies are more noisy than others, and some effect pedals are more sensitive than other pedals.

For one pedal, the Truetone One Spot is designed to be a quiet power source. https://store.truetone.com/products/eur ... wer-supply

For more than one pedal, try one of these power supplies, some of them should be available in Sweden: https://stinkfoot.se/power-supplies
