Highs sound compressed

Post by David Zornes »

By saying highs sound compressed, I mean that when I go past the twelfth fret on my steel-Derby, the highs sound "squeally". They should be clean. I have a Fender Steel King and my Treble is set around 3
Bass a little higher. Could it be my mids setting? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Have you tried it with the mids all the way off?

No Donnie, I haven’t. I found out the settings for Buddy’s use of the Steel King and it is clean now. Emmons was a genius.
