John "Smiley" Reynolds

Post by Tommy Detamore »

Smiley passed away a few days ago. He loved steel guitar, and wrote the book on country drumming in Texas. He played with so many greats, including Johnny Bush and Darrell McCall, and was an inspiration to so many. He was a gentle soul, and what a character! He would put a smile on your face in no time!

Love you Smiley. R.I.P. brother.

Smiley was one of a kind that's for sure. Many nights traveling home from gigs he would keep me awake and laughing so hard. A solid drummer for sure! Rest in peace Smiley!

I had the chance to work with him a few times, a great guy and a solid drummer. RIP "Smiley"

I can hear him saying "them time's were like gold, weren't they Poppa?! :) Gotta have 'em."

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Oh, I am sorry to hear this. I never played with him, but by chance happened to sit next to him on an airliner. It was fun talking about Johnny Bush and Texas C&W. He seemed like a really nice guy and very down to earth.
