Late to the game, but love the thread! This one I got from Mike Calaway, who built Marlens for years - built this one for himself in 1994. He told me the endplates are Emmons (lore has it Lashley ordered them, but didn't want to pay. Not uncommon for both shops to swap parts). The changers are stainless steel as well. Mike didn't put the traditional plastic logo on to make it all the more unique

Here's what our Proprietor b0b(RIP b0b, we miss you)said; when I got him this Speedy West Marlen, originally given to me from my Mentor Gary Carpenter.

b0b LOVED that Marlen so much.
Ricky
This was the 2nd guitar that Leonard built for Speedy West. I bought it from Ricky Davis and played it for about a year when I was first learning C6th. It had a wonderful tone and the pedal action was very smooth. I should have never sold it. Oh Well

b0b LOVED that Marlen so much.

Figured I'd share a photo of my steel, Marlene. I felt like she deserved a name. Plus the white logo was a little dull.
Just taking it back up. I think the playing of the dobro and lap steel in the interim really helped.
Serial 9128891 - Not sure what that means. I bought it a few years back from a music place out towards Reidsville. The store owner said it had belonged to someone who worked for Marlen in some capacity. Going to bring it out in public for my weekly country jam tonight. Which means I can skip the gym.

My Marlen S10….a beauty. Fantastic tone. I got this from Jim Palenscar of North County Steel guitars. Great shop and great guitar guy.

Re: Marlen Pedal Steel
James was one of my first Students and this is the Marlen that I restored for him.
He loved it so much and then he met "Sho~Bud" and began to learn from me and John Coop about
the restoration of Shobud's and he was GREAT and did a lot of work (even on Marlen's); then he passed
away from Cancer. You couldn't meet anyone with More passion for Pedal Steel than james; he is resting
high on that Mountain; as he fulfilled so many Hearts here on Earth. (RIP; I miss you James.)
